This book is an outstanding and original examination of the roots of our human suffering. It offers concrete ideas, an easy to read format, and exercises that make sense. The author, Eric Gross consistently shows that he cares for the reader, and for humanity. R.D.
This is NOT a self-help book in the traditional sense. There are no affirmations to recite, journals to keep, or empty chairs to speak to. Liberation from the Lie deals with the cause of fear...not the effects. From the perspective of someone who is accustomed to assignments, endless analysis; "doing something" in an effort to "improve" my self, these ideas can be quite challenging. However, I can heartily recommend taking the risk. I.
So far I've read about 20 different spiritual books. Although many have been good, in my opinion the best two books are The Power of Now (E. Tolle) and Liberation From the Lie (Eric Gross). They both changed the way I think, but Liberation From the Lie really helped me understand how my ego works. The topic of the ego is extremely complicated, but Gross's book really made it easy to understand. L.R.
By far, one of the better, if not the best, "help" books I've read (believe me, there have been many). The exercises put forth by Mr. Gross in Liberation from the Lie are very practical.
